Answer by Dan Angel

First, go to Start, type dxdiag and open the utility. Click the Sound tab, check your sound card model and download and install the latest drivers available from the developer web page. If the problem persists, go to Start > Control Panel, type troubleshooting in the Search field from the right corner and open the utility. Click Hardware and Sound, select Playing audio, press Next and follow the on-screen instructions. For further solutions, you can check Microsoft Support page.

IDT Audio had been installed on my netbook when I purchased it. But the program cannot run. How can I repair it or re-install it?

Answer by Alex Urbach

IDT Audio is a package that is delivered with the driver for your computer. To reinstall it first you need to remove it from the Add or Remove programs and Device Manager (Control Panel > System > Device manager). After you do this, reinstall the driver and the audio will work. Alternatively, make sure the audio service is running. Go to Start > Run > type services.msc and locate Windows Audio. Right click it and select Restart Service.

You can repair it via the Add or Remove Programs in Windows XP or Programs and Features in Windows Vista/7.

IDT Audio is an audio utility developed by Integrated Device Technology. It improves your sound card performances and installs some audio codecs that will allow you to play all major audio files. If you want, you can safely uninstall it using Add or Remove Programs feature (Control Panel > Uninstall a program).
